Embark on a journey of discovery with your Dallas Zoo’s Wild Earth Action Team as we travel to the heart of Mexico to witness the awe-inspiring congregation of migrating monarchs. This exclusive expedition, in partnership with Holbrook Travel, promises an unforgettable experience as we delve into the wonders of the natural world while supporting local communities and taking action to protect monarchs.

Trip Activities:

Explore Michoacán’s monarch reserves, including Sierra Chincua, El Rosario, and Macho de Agua, by hiking or on horseback to witness millions of butterflies gathering.

Capture the vibrant hues of the butterflies as they adorn the trees in clusters, sip from streams, feast on wildflowers, and gracefully glide through the air.

Take part in ECOLIFE’s Clean Stove initiative, protecting community health and monarch habitat, then connect with Mazahua traditions at their cultural center.
Explore the charming town of Metepec, renowned for its vibrant artisan culture and its Tree of Life sculptures depicting folkloric and nature-inspired themes.
