Shed Your Winter Coat at the Dallas Zoo for Those in Need
Nov 27, 2012

Help Yourself to Free Admission December 1-2, When You Help Others

Most of the animals at the Dallas Zoo have adaptations to cope with cold weather. Their winter coats are starting to fill in as the temperatures drop. However, humans must rely on climate controls such as heating, heavy coats, and blankets to keep out the chill. Unfortunately, there are some people in our community without homes, who are down on their luck, that do not have coats, blankets, or sleeping bags to keep them warm on winter nights. But just upstairs at The Stewpot, there is a clothing closet to help those in need.

The Zoo Unto Others employee volunteer team at the Dallas Zoo is sponsoring the “Shed Your Winter Coat” coat drive to benefit clients of The Stewpot. To show its appreciation to guests who donate coats, blankets, and sleeping bags, the Zoo will offer free admission for each item donated. Dallas Zoological Society members who participate will receive a free guest admission ticket. The coat drive takes place on Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
