Paw Prints Art Fair

Paw Prints Art FairMother’s Day weekend is about to get wild with the  Paw Prints Art Show at the Dallas Zoo on May 10-11, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Stroll among tents filled with art and crafts, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, wood carvings, photography, and hand-crafted jewelry while viewing wildlife in naturalistic settings.

Visit the exhibition area featuring unique paintings created by Dallas Zoo residents through animal enrichment programs. Enjoy music provided by strolling local musicians.  Children can express their artistic side by creating works of art in the “hands on art stations”.  Dine at restaurants and food carts throughout the park.

Half-day Group Photo Safari

Capture amazing shots of wild and exotic animals in their naturalistic habitats with Dallas Zoo staff photographer Cathy Burkey. With help from zookeepers and guidance and tips from Cathy, you’re guaranteed excellent photos of animals foraging for their breakfast, romping and playing, and exhibiting other natural behaviors. You’ll meet at 8 a.m. for a continental breakfast, then set out to explore some of the Zoo’s most interesting and charismatic animals. Groups are limited to 15 participants to ensure individual attention. The session concludes at noon, and participants are welcome to stay at the Zoo for the day.

Time: 8 a.m. to noon

Cost per person: $45 for members; $55 for non-members

Safari Nights

Stay at the Zoo past sundown on Saturdays this summer!

Saturday nights will sizzle this summer at the Dallas Zoo, when the Safari Nights evening concert series returns featuring great music, extended hours and a chance to mingle with some of the stars of the Zoo.

Safari Nights kicks off June 7 and runs for eight consecutive Saturdays. Visitors can explore the Zoo during the day, then relax on a blanket or lawn chair on shady Cat Green and embrace the sounds of original songwriters and tribute bands until 9 p.m. Stars from the Zoo’s Animal Adventures outreach program will be on hand to visit, too.

The concerts are FREE with the price of Zoo admission and begin at 7 p.m. Food will be available for purchase, along with soft drinks, cold beer and wine.

Spend the entire day shooting and perfecting your photographic skills. These workshops include a continental breakfast and a morning Photo Safari led by staff photographer Cathy Burkey, followed by a box lunch and an afternoon classroom session led by an industry professional. Each workshop concentrates on various aspects of nature and animal photography. Sessions are limited to 15 participants to ensure individual attention.

Photo Safari Overnight

Are you game for an overnight adventure? Spend the night at the Zoo, photographing animals after it closes to the public. You’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner and have the opportunity to discuss your favorite photographs. After spending the night in our Camp Okapi jungle-style bunkhouse tents, you’ll awake to a sunrise breakfast, then visit some of the Zoo’s most charismatic animals. Groups are limited to 28 participants to ensure excellent access. Accommodations are basic and no shower facilities are available. The session ends at 9 a.m., and participants may stay at Zoo and photograph for the remainder of the day.
