Guided School Tours
Take your students on a Wild learning adventure during your field trip to the Dallas Zoo! Wild Walks are a guided tour led by a Zoo educator and aligned with Science TEKS. Together we will observe animals, explore habitats, discover eco-system connections, and learn what we can do to save wildlife.
Price: $150 per program (up to 20 participants)
Duration: 45 minutes
Dates: Available Monday – Friday

Wild Walk: Adaptations
Explore how animals use their adaptations to live in different habitats. We will observe a few Dallas Zoo animals and discuss how adaptations help them survive.
Grade Level: 1st-8th
TEKS: 1.10.A, 2.10.A, 3.10.A, 3.10.B, 4.10.A, 5.10.A:, 6.2.A, 7.2.A, 8.2.A.
Wild Walk: Habitats
Join us for an investigation into how animals interact with their habitat and what it takes to meet the basic needs of animals. Observe zoo animals in a variety of habitats and discuss what makes each habitat unique.
Grade Level: 1st-2nd
TEKS: 1.2.A, 1.2.E, 1.10.A, 2.2.A, 2.9.A, 2.9.B, 2.9.C.
Wild Walk: Food Chains & Webs
Investigate how energy and living things are connected in the animal kingdom. Observe predators and prey, carnivores and herbivores, and discover the important roles they play in the food chain.
Grade Level: 1st-5th
TEKS: 1.9.C, 2.9.C, 3.1.B, 4.1.B, 5.1.B, 3.9.B, 4.9.B, 5.9.B, 5.9.C.
Wild Walk: Choose Your Adventure
Customize a guided tour to fit your science curriculum or lesson plan. Dallas Zoo educators will create a Wild Walk just for you. There is an additional charge for custom tours, and requests must be made 2 weeks in advance. Email Education@DallasZoo.com for more information.
Dallas Zoo Close Ups
We are excited to be able to offer our school programs virtually with Dallas Zoo Close-Ups! Add to your field trip by booking a Dallas Zoo Close-Up for either before or after your time and take a deeper look at animal adaptations, habitats, and food webs as represented at the Dallas Zoo. Dallas Zoo’s learning programs are aligned with Science TEKS and taught by a Zoo educator.

Dallas Zoo educators will log onto link provided by the school (unless school requests link from the Zoo). Dallas Zoo educators will need screen sharing permissions for video and audio. We recommend students have access to the chat feature to ask questions, make predictions, and share observations.
Registration and cancellation policies:
Programs must be booked two (2) weeks in advance of program date.
Your reservation may be rescheduled once without penalty. Additional reschedules will be charged $25 per instance. Reschedule dates must be at least two (2) weeks in advance. Cancellations must be received in writing to Education@DallasZoo.com at least one (1) week prior to the date of your visit. Refunds will not be issued for any amount under $20, for cancellations made within one (1) week of the scheduled date, or for no-show groups. Your school (and/or Big Thought if using LearningPartners funding) will be invoiced for the total reservation cost if you fail to show for your field trip/program or cancel within one (1) week of the scheduled date. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but we reserve the right to cancel or adjust programs as needed. The Dallas Zoo reserves the right to change these policies without notice. Inclement Weather Policy: The Dallas Zoo is open rain or shine. Field trips and programs will be canceled if DISD is closed due to inclement weather. Rescheduling fees due to DISD closure will be waived. Reschedule dates must be at least two (2) weeks in advance. We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but we reserve the right to cancel or adjust programs as needed. The Dallas Zoo reserves the right to change these policies without notice.
