It’s the next best thing to a personal tour with the zookeepers!

Take your zoo experience to the next level with an exciting, behind-the-scenes video tour of the Dallas Zoo for only $6.95! Gloria Campos, evening news anchor at WFAA-TV and Dallas Zoo member, introduces many Zoo exhibits during the two-hour tour. See the zoo like you never have before as Zookeepers show “A Closer Look” and describe the animals’ activities. Learn more and have fun with trivia questions and quizzes related to each topic. Zoo RangerTM also keeps you on track with maps of the Zoo and identification of facilities such as cafes, gift shops and restrooms.
As you walk through the Zoo with the device on your self-paced tour, a GPS signal is triggered when the Zoo RangerTM passes featured exhibits, and then you see and hear a vivid video description of that feature. Integrated audio, video, text, and pictures tell the stories of the animals and people at the Zoo.

For example, you will be introduced to the Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center and learn more about the exhibit. When opting to “Take a Closer Look,” you will learn how the gorillas, Jenny, Hercules, Timbo, and Patrick, spend their days. Afterward, extend your knowledge and fun by answering interactive trivia questions!

The entire program can be viewed – to learn about animals you might not have walked by or seen – on demand, regardless of location, by scrolling the touch screen of the Zoo RangerTM for media and tour stop videos. The map on the Zoo RangerTM helps you find your way around the park quickly and easily.

Zoo RangerTM is small, lightweight and fits into the palm of a visitor’s hand. The device has an amplified audio system, and a 4-inch LCD touch screen for easy access to features. Additional languages such as Spanish and American Sign Language will be added in the near future. One Zoo Ranger can be enjoyed by groups of 1 to 4 guests and the rents for only $6.95 for the entire day.
