An Adoption Can Make a Great and Unique Holiday Gift!! For Adopt specials, click here What is the Adopt-An-Animal program at the Dallas Zoo and The Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park? The Adopt an Animal program started in 1984. The program is designed for members of the public to support their favorite animal at the Dallas Zoo or The Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park. By becoming a Zoo or Aquarium parent, you help provide for the following: - Improvements to the animals' habitats
- Lifestyle and environmental enhancements for the animals
- Acquisition of animals for the collection
In addition, your contribution supports the Zoo and Aquarium's participation in the Species Survival Plan (SSP). The SSP is critical to the survival of endangered and threatened species around the world. Who Can Adopt? - Individuals

When you adopt an animal, you'll receive: - A personalized Adoption Certificate with a color photo of your animal.
- A Zookeeper's Report, filled with information about your animal.
- Periodic mailings about the Zoo and the Aquarium.
- A special invitation to the annual Zoobilee celebration at the Zoo
- A listing on the Adopt Parents' Honor Roll at the main entrance of the Dallas Zoo.
- A large dose of Parental Pride and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping support the wonderful wildlife at the Dallas Zoo and The Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park!
Can you give an adoption as a gift? Of course! You can say "Happy Birthday!" to your mama with a llama or make your uncle a monkey's uncle. It's the perfect present for that person who has everything! What does it cost? - Adoptions range in cost from $25 to $2,000 per year.
- Shared adoptions of all higher-priced animals are available for a contribution of $25 per year or more. The same program benefits apply, and the shared adoptions may also be given as gifts. If you prefer to do a shared adoption, please call (214) 943-2771, ext. 311.
Can you take the animals home with you? No, but trust us, you wouldn't want to! All the adopted animals remain in the care and custody of the Dallas Zoo, and no ownership rights are conferred. If your adopted animal is removed from the collection, your sponsorship will be applied to another animal for the remainder of the year. Due to their popularity, some animals may receive concurrent adoptions. To adopt an animal today, use our Adopt An Animal online form and enter your Visa or Mastercard number. Please remember to fill in the date of the special occasion on your purchase form. If no date is listed, we will address the purchase the next business day.
