NIGHT PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR(S)
Part-time ONLY
Multiple Positions Available
We have multiple opportunities for Night Program Instructor(s). The Night Program Instructor(s) will be responsible for leading groups of children and chaperones through the zoo during the evening for both Night Hikes and Overnights. Other duties include leading guided tours as well as small group presentations with live animals. Responsible for overnights which involves sleeping at the zoo and setting up breakfast for participants in the morning. Required to work at least one night program a month during the seasons that they are offered (August – November & March – June). Night Hike hours are usually 5PM-10PM. Overnights are usually 5PM-11AM the following day. Programs are scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays and occasionally on Thursdays. Instructors for night programs may have the opportunity to teach other programs during the “off-season” (December – February and June – August.) These include Scout badge programs, school programs, Saturday Classes and Summer Camps.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least one year of related teaching experience required.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills.
Must be able to effectively supervise large groups of people.
Must have the ability to respond in a calm manner to emergencies.
Must be able to work long hours. Negative TB test required.
