MAMMAL KEEPER II
(Multiple Openings)
We have an exceptional career opportunity for a Mammal Keeper II. The Mammal Keeper II will be responsible for providing daily care and husbandry for animals in the mammal collection with particular emphasis on animals in the new Savanna Exhibit. Other responsibilities will include:
Cleaning, feeding, observing and documenting animal behavior.
Responsible for minor maintenance, communication and educating zoo visitors on zoo programs.
Following all safety protocols and working safely around potentially dangerous animals.
Responsible for keeping up with all documentation including required paperwork and record keeping.
Assisting in animal restraint and medical procedures.
Maintains and cleans barn exhibits.
Gives regular keeper talks to the public.
Observes animal behavior and reports changes in normal behavior.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least one year of experience working with, caring for and handling animals.
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences preferred.
Must be flexible, self-motivated, innovative and a team player.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and document animal care activities.
Must be able to establish and maintain an effective rapport with all levels of management, employees and zoo guests.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have good observation skills.
Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above head, pull bend, climb stairs and ladders and carry up to 50lbs.
Must be able to work in inclement weather.
