MAMMAL CURATOR
We have an exceptional career opportunity for a Mammal Curator. The Mammal Curator will be responsible for collection management and management of animal care personnel. This includes overseeing the exhibition, husbandry and collection planning for all mammals. Other responsibilities will include:
Participating in the species survival plans, taxon advisory groups, and other conservation and science programs related to the Zoo.
Responsible for animal acquisition and discharge for the mammal department.
Assists in coordination and analysis of conservation and research activities with the mammal collection.
Responsible for the preparation and administration of the annual budget for the mammal department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences required.
Minimum of five years experience required.
Two years professional experience in animal management, two years personnel management experience and active participation in conservation efforts preferred.
Must have knowledge of animal husbandry, history and behavior as well as care and exhibition of exotic and domestic animals.
Must be well versed in mammalian biology.
Must have experience in budget preparation, record keeping and collection planning.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be able and willing to work well with employees, volunteers, veterinarians, the public, community representatives and private groups and organizations.
