INTERPRETER
We have an exceptional career opportunity for an Interpreter. The Interpreter will be responsible for the delivery of a highly engaging interactive experience with our guests. Other duties include daily animal care, pony rides, and initiating interactions with zoo guests through informal interpretive talks, focused activities and scheduled presentations in a variety of exhibit settings (indoor and outdoor). Responsible for working with youth volunteers on a daily basis.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one year of working with or caring for domestic and/or small exotic animals preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, Education or related field preferred.
  • Must have at least one year experience working with youth.
  • Must have the desire to work with large groups of children and adults and a positive, cheerful and professional attitude.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with the public.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and follow up on requests required.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above head, pull bend, climb stairs and ladders and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to actively work in inclement weather.
