DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION
We have an exceptional career opportunity for a Director of Education. The Director of Education will guide the Dallas Zoo’s education program offerings to the community through fun and engaging wildlife programs with an emphasis on connecting people with the natural world. This individual will oversee and direct numerous aspects of the Dallas Zoo’s educational programming. In addition to creating and coordinating exciting programs with the education staff, this position must demonstrate leadership through sound strategic planning and fiscal responsibility. Other responsibilities include:
Directing daily operations of the Education department.
Hiring, training, coaching, scheduling and evaluating direct reports.
Preparing and monitoring budgets for all areas of the Education department, including managing resources efficiently and maximizing revenue-generating programs.
Directing the Education Staff in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating fun and exciting programming that align with local, state, and national education standards.
Coordinating and updating web-based content and messaging for DallasZoo.com in cooperation with various zoo departments.
Assisting with the development of Education and Interpretive program messaging zoo-wide.
Exploring and developing community partnerships with local organizations, formal and informal educational entities, and professional groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have Bachelor’s degree in Education, Biology, Zoology or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Must have a minimum of 10 years experience developing and implementing formal and informal education programs preferably in science-based or nature/ wildlife themed programming.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership through sound strategic planning and fiscal responsibility.
Must have a minimum of 5 years management experience with a solid understanding of budget development, management, and proven success in achieving budgetary goals.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills required.
