Travel the globe without leaving Dallas! Campers will explore festivals celebrating animals from around the world through hands-on activities, outdoor play, close-up animal experiences, and Zoo tours unique to each day’s theme.
All camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and are divided into grade-level appropriate classes: PreK (ages 3-5), K-1, 2-3, and 4- 5. Please register your child based on the grade they are currently enrolled in for the 2016-17 school year.
BeforeCamp and AfterCamp care is available every camp day. BeforeCamp runs from 8- 9 a.m. at $5/child each day. AfterCamp runs from 3-6 p.m. at $10/child each day.

Festival of Cats – Tuesday, Dec. 20
Costumes and masks are a big part of many world festivals. Campers will create their own cat-inspired masks as they learn about the Dallas Zoo’s wild cats and celebrate the Venetian Carnaevale, known for its beautiful costumes and masks.
Festival of Birds – Wednesday, Dec. 21
There are over 9,000 species of birds around the world! Learn about how different countries, like Papua New Guinea, celebrate these animals of flight and how they’ve adapted to their environments.
Festival of Primates – Thursday, Dec. 22
Festivals are more fun with food! Explore how different cultures use food to celebrate their connection with wildlife. Campers will learn how Thailand celebrates monkeys during its Monkey Buffet Festival.
Festival of Saving Species – Tuesday, Dec. 27
Cultures around the world have festivals to celebrate their animal friends. Campers will discover how endangered animals can be cared for and celebrated.
Festival of Elephants – Wednesday, Dec. 28
Elephants are celebrated as sacred animals in India’s cultural festivals. Learn about our largest giants of the Savanna and ways we can help protect the future of all elephants.*
Festival of North American Animals – Thursday, Dec. 29
Investigate the strengths and characteristics of animals that deeply inspired Native Americans’ connection to nature. Campers will create their own animal totem art and learn about some inspirational animals that call the Dallas Zoo home.
Festival of Dragons – Friday, Dec. 30
Explore the meaning behind the twelve Chinese New Year’s animals. Campers will create their own dragon and learn about the dragon’s animal traits.
*Registering for Festival of Elephants camp does not guarantee campers will be able to see elephant calf Ajabu.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
**Registrations must be completed as a single transaction to receive 5% multiple camp discount.
All camp sales are final. No refunds will be given for cancelled camp reservations or camp withdrawals. A program credit may be issued based on circumstance. The credit may be used for any education program or camp at the Dallas Zoo. Credit will not be issued for cancellations made within 48 hours of your scheduled enrollment or for no-show participants. All programs will take place rain or shine. The Dallas Zoo and Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park reserves the right to cancel or change any program for reasons we deem appropriate. In the event that we cancel your program, a full refund will be issued and individuals will be contacted directly.
We strictly enforce grade level requirements. Campers enrolled in the wrong grade level will be removed from the camp without a refund. They will be given the opportunity to enroll in the appropriate grade level camp and placed on the waitlist if the appropriate camp is sold out.
All camp participants must be completely toilet trained (requiring no assistance in the bathroom). Our definition of toilet trained means that the child is not wearing pull-ups and is able to manage his/her own clothing by him/herself.
All requests to be placed on a waitlist must be submitted in writing to Education@DallasZoo.com. Phone or in-person requests cannot be accepted. Please include first and last name of adult contact, phone, and email. For each child, please include first and last name, grade level and camp title/date. You will be contacted directly in the event a space becomes available. Incomplete waitlist requests will not be considered.
The Dallas Zoo and Children’s Aquarium at Fair Park is licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
