You’re Invited to the Dallas Zoo’s 125th Birthday Party on April 6 and 7!
Apr 1, 2013

No need to bring gifts. This is a party for you! To thank everyone for 125 years of support, the Dallas Zoo is celebrating its birthday with a big bash on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7. Come see our new Wild Encounters Stage in the Wilds of Africa, where we’ll feature encounters with creatures of all kinds. And take a ride around Picnic Ridge on the Safari Express, a new trackless train for our smallest fans.

This birthday party rocks with a variety of music throughout the park. You may find Dallas Heritage Society’s Buttermilk Junction band in period attire in the Entry Plaza, African drummers and dancers in the Wilds of Africa, disco in the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo, and a DJ with music and games on Cat Green, too.

Get a glimpse of the special birthday cake created by pastry chefs at Dallas Affaires before it is cut on Saturday at 1 p.m. The first 1,000 kids on Cat Green at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday get cupcakes from the popular bakery. Our animals won’t be left out of the festivities! They get special birthday treats throughout the weekend. And watch for more surprises.

When the Dallas Zoo was founded in 1888 at the site of Dallas Heritage Village (formerly City Park), no one anticipated that the first zoo in Texas would become the largest zoo in the state. Please join us on April 6 and 7 to celebrate our history and future success.
