Early Learning Programs at the Dallas Zoo this Fall
Aug 3, 2010

Enrollment now open for children ages 15 months to 5 years

With time to explore the Dallas Zoo and meet a variety of animals, children in the preschool programs are taking a field trip every day. Students discover the world of animals and nature through an interactive curriculum. Activities include a hands-on learning center, live animal encounters, Zoo exploration time, crafts, snacks, and more. Preschool programs follow early-childhood curriculum guidelines for Texas TEKS and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and include goals for the Council for Environmental Education. Children develop skills in language, literacy, phonemic awareness, creative arts, problem solving, critical thinking, mathematical skills, scientific thinking and observation, and cooperation and social skills. Registration is now open.

Students can enroll in a series of classes or single-day options:

Cub Club classes are for children age 15 months to two-and-a-half with one parent. Classes are held on Wednesdays or Saturdays and are one hour long. Parents and children may stay in the Zoo after each class. First class begins Sept. 1.

Nature Tykes classes are for children ages 3 and 4.  The three-hour classes are offered on Tuesdays or Thursdays in the mornings or afternoons. The first class begins Aug. 31.

A to Zoo Preschool Safari classes are for children ages 4 and 5. The three-hour classes are offered on Fridays or Saturdays in the mornings or afternoons. The first class begins Sept. 3.
