Celebrate a Festival of Flight at Dallas Roars!
Mar 28, 2011

The Dallas Zoo takes off with Dallas Roars: A Festival of Flight presented through a generous grant by the Kimberly-Clark Corporation. The Zoo starts the annual three-weekend spring celebration with the opening of the free-flight bird show SOAR, A Festival of Flight in the new Wildlife Amphitheater in ZooNorth. The popular seasonal exhibit Butterflies! also presented by Kimberly-Clark, returns in time to wrap up Dallas Roars! for Mother’s Day weekend.

Mariachi music fills the air when the Zoo celebrates Día de los Niños for the second weekend of Dallas Roars! We will honor the traditions of our neighbors south of Texas with special crafts and entertainment. The last weekend of Dallas Roars! honors moms with the opening of Butterflies! If Mom is the adventurous type, treat her to a special Mother’s Day overnight on May 7. Mom and children age 7 and up will enjoy a special after-hours tour of ZooNorth, a live animal encounter, a craft, and a Monorail Safari Tour the next morning. The overnight includes an evening snack and a continental breakfast in the morning. Cost: $40 per participant for members.

“The Dallas Zoo plays an important role in enhancing the quality of life for children, families, and the community,” said Jenny Lewis, vice president of the Kimberly-Clark Foundation. “Kimberly-Clark is proud to continue our long-time support of the Zoo and is excited to present this year’s Dallas Roars! festival and the Butterflies! exhibit.”

Other events throughout the Dallas Roars! include bounce houses, crafts, face painting, murals to paint, games with prizes, musical entertainment, and much more.
