The Zoo Unto Others employee volunteer team at the Dallas Zoo is sponsoring the “Shed Your Winter Coat” coat drive to benefit clients of The Stewpot, a barrier-free resource center for the homeless and at-risk of Dallas.
The coat drive takes place on Saturday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring a new or gently used coat, blanket, or sleeping bag and receive FREE admission to the Dallas Zoo that day for each item donated.

It’s our last Dollar Day of the year! Each year before Thanksgiving, we offer $1 admission and $1 food/drink specials, too. It’s our way of showing our appreciation to our wonderful community for the support you give us throughout the year. And as a non-profit Zoo, we’re committed to giving everyone the chance to experience the majesty of the natural world. So load up the family, get out of the house for the day and come see the beautiful fall colors at the Dallas Zoo.
Special prices include:
$1 admission for ages 3 and older (free for 2 and under)
$1 selected snack items (canned drinks, hot dogs, and ice cream)

Enjoy an unforgettable evening with a special Zoo tour, fun-filled activities, and an opportunity to see some of our Education animals up-close. Minimum age is 5 years old.

Capture amazing shots of wild and exotic animals in their naturalistic habitats with Dallas Zoo staff photographer Cathy Burkey. With help from zookeepers and guidance and tips from Cathy, you’re guaranteed excellent photos of animals foraging for their breakfast, romping and playing, and exhibiting other natural behaviors. You’ll meet at 8 a.m. for a continental breakfast, then set out to explore some of the Zoo’s most interesting and charismatic animals. Groups are limited to 15 participants to ensure individual attention. The session concludes at noon, and participants are welcome to stay at the Zoo for the day.
Time: 8 a.m. to noon
Cost per person: $45 for members; $55 for non-members

Guests will stroll through the Giants of the Savanna exhibit sampling exquisite dishes from over twenty-five of Dallas’s premier chefs and restaurants while enjoying interactive animal demonstrations and musical entertainment. Following dinner, guests will move to the Wilds of Africa plaza for a live auction and will dance the night away with music from Emerald City!
