The three Giants of the Savanna habitats (North, South and the Tembo Yard) will be closed for annual maintenance on the pools, waterfalls and other water features Feb. 21-23. Guests will be unable to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, lechwes, guinea fowl and ostriches during this time. Lions and cheetahs will be on exhibit, and the rest of the Wilds of Africa will be open, along with ZooNorth. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Hippo enrichment fundraiser at The Local Oak

The Dallas Zoo's Behavior and Enrichment Committee has partnered with The Local Oak in the Bishop Arts District for a fundraiser that will benefit the soon-to-arrive Nile hippopotamuses. A portion of sales Feb. 23-26 will be donated to the committee to help buy enrichment items for the new hippos. Enrichment is anything that enhances animal behaviors or their natural environments.
