October 6 – 9, 2013
The Dallas Zoo welcomes you to Dallas for the
34th annual conference of the Elephant Managers Association.
Schedule of Events:
• Sunday, Oct. 6: Registration and Icebreaker at the hotel
• Monday, Oct. 7: Paper Sessions at the hotel (breakfast and lunch
provided) followed by a Pub Crawl in Uptown
• Tuesday, Oct. 8: Paper Sessions at the hotel (breakfast and lunch
provided) followed by a visit to the State Fair of Texas
• Wednesday, Oct. 9: Dallas Zoo Day, including elephant barn tour,
hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and banquet (breakfast,
lunch, and dinner provided)
• Thursday, Oct. 10: Optional post-conference trip to the Oklahoma
City Zoo , $60. Transportation, lunch, and a snack provided.
Registration is $175 until August 15; $200 August 16 and later.
All full registrants will be provided with a 3-day Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) light rail pass for transportation between the hotel, pub crawl, State Fair of Texas, and the Zoo. The Zoo and Uptown are on the Red Line. The State Fair is on the Green Line. Both lines go to the hotel.
There are two airports that service the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. DFW International Airport (DFW) is the highest-capacity commercial airport in the world and a major hub for American Airlines. Located just seven miles from downtown, Dallas Love Field (DAL) is smaller and the headquarters for Southwest Airlines.
The weather in Dallas in October is characterized by daily highs ranging from 72° to 83°F and daily lows ranging from 53° to 63°F.
