PROFILE:

Perentie monitors are in the varanid (or monitor) family, which includes the world’s largest lizard, the Komodo dragon. The perentie is the largest lizard that is found in Australia. The Dallas Zoo is proud to be home to this lizard, as it is one of the few zoos outside of Australia to house them and also the first zoo in North America to reproduce this species.
