PROFILE:

In the wild, ostriches have been known to sit motionless on the ground with their head and neck stretched out in front of them, giving weight to the myth that they bury their heads in the ground. Males have dark brown-black body feathers while females have light brown body feathers. Look out over the Giants of the Savanna to see the largest living flightless bird in the world; can you tell if they are male or female?
