PROFILE:

Like most raptors, the female is larger than the male. She usually has one chick every two-to-three years. The chick is fed by its mother for the first three months and the father takes over until the chick can hunt live prey for itself, usually around one year of age. Young ornate hawk-eagles begin practicing their hunting skills by attacking fruit. As adults. they are one of the main predators of the Bolivian gray titi monkey.
